Significant funding for Carlow welcomed by White
Green Party T.D. for Carlow/Kilkenny, Mary White, has welcomed the latest funding announcements for Carlow.
Speaking after the announcements of €100,000 for CANDO under the Old Persons initiatives and the €18,221 for schools in Carlow under the Dining Area and Canteen Equipment Projects, the Green Party Deputy Leader said: “This is great news for communities and schools in Carlow. At a time when the Government is adjusting spending and expectations, its commitment to the elderly and greater provisions for schools is being demonstrated again. As a former board member of CANDO I’m thrilled at this top-up to funding for the Old Persons Initiatives. These initiatives help older people to lead more independent lives in their own communities. Such encouragement of independence is important and all of this funding helps. CANDO, whether its their jobs club, their supporting of small holders, or training and other initiatives, are worthy recipients of this grant.
“The provision of extra funding for canteens in Carlow’s schools will improve the conditions in which students eat their lunches and recreate during breaks.”
