WHITE URGES ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR 2008

Green Party Deputy Leader Mary White TD has reiterated the need to conserve energy and to cut down emissions in 2008.

Deputy White said, “For the first time in the State’s history the Green Party has delivered a Carbon Budget. This was to set out plans and targets to cut carbon emissions in 2008 and to integrate climate change considerations into the Government’s budgetary policy and decision making processes.”

Green Party T.D. Mary White has urged schools to research the possibility of using rainwater harvesting to cut water usage in schools.

Deputy White said: “With the recent concerns on high water charges for schools the option for rainwater harvesting is an attractive possibility.
