THUGS TARGET DEPUTY LEADER’S HOME

Green Party Deputy Leader Cllr. Mary White has condemned the thuggery that took place at her home in the early hours of today when a car was set alight and burned at her gateway blocking the entrance to her home.

Cllr. White said,

“Whoever set this car alight, firstly drove to my home with the express intention of abandoning it, burning it and blocking my gateway. I believe this was a blatant attempt at intimidation in the run -up to the General Election. In a decent democracy the last thing we want is thuggery and anti social behaviour. It is highly regrettable that somebody thought this was a good way to silence me from speaking out on the issues that effect the people of Carlow/Kilkenny.One of those issues is anti social behaviour which has dogged many areas of the constituency.”

Cllr. White said

“Thankfully nobody was injured . I would like to thank the Gardai for their prompt response to an early morning call to investigate the matter. The car has now been taken away for forensic examination and I will await and see what further tests might turn up”
